Grant Giving Campaign Launch for the Ashland Parks Foundation
The Ashland Parks Foundation (APF) is launching its annual Grant Giving Campaign for 2019. APF has a mission of enhancing Ashland’s quality of life by financially supporting its parks system. Grants are provided for non-profit 501(c)(e) organizations making use of or supporting Ashland’s parks, trails or recreational opportunities.
Annually, in March & April, the five-member APF board receives grant requests and hears a brief presentation from each community organization or group that applies. Presentations are given in May. This year, the 24-year-old APF will award $10,000 in community grants.
Any non-profit group, project or organization making use of or working toward improving Ashland’s parks system is eligible to apply for a grant of financial support. Requesting groups shall complete the online grant request form on the APF website, ashlandparksfoundation.com/apply.
In years past, scholarship and equipment grants have been awarded for organizations supportive of both youth and adults. APF is an especially proud contributor to organizations requesting equipment assistance or youth scholarships for baseball, soccer, water polo, swim lessons, art classes and more. Other grants have gone to help create a pollinator garden at The Grove, to offer scholarships for all ages through the Recreation Division of Ashland Parks and Recreation Commission (APRC) and to help fund an APRC volunteer appreciation dinner, to name just a few.
The APF application deadline is Friday, May 1, at 5 p.m. Requests will be heard before the Ashland Parks Foundation Board meeting on Thursday, May 15, 2019 at noon at The Grove.
